Liverpool thrashed Newcastle by four goals to be top at the end of 2008. Gerrard and Hypia scored in the first half and in the last minute of the first half David Edgar scored. Babel scored and Gerrard got his second. Xabi Alonso scored a penalty to make it 5-1.
Robbie Keane scored twice but Riera scored before. Liverpool are top of the table on Boxing day. They then play Newcastle at St. James Park.
Liverpool won 3-1 against Blackburn. Alonso, Yossi Benayoun and Gerrard scored. Santa Cruz scored for Blackburn. The highlights of the match will be on Match of the day on BBC 1 at 10:00 or a replay on Sunday.
